The Island Institute brought the play, Into the Heart of the Wood, written and performed by Todd Jefferson Moore to Sitka in 1997. The Seattle-based writer and perfromer wrote a one-man stage play about the continuing logging debate where he personally took on more than 18 different characters. His characters included a mill owner, an ex-logger turned environmentalist, a monthly timber contractor, and an Anglican priest.
